Ricoh Australia (established in 1967 as Nashua Australia), has been committed to keeping their customers at the forefront of technology since the beginning. They understand that we no longer need a physical office to be “in the office”, which is why they provide business solutions that enable us to automate, connect and communicate wherever we are. They’re always thinking towards the future - their next advancement is never too far away. In more recent years, Ricoh have expanded their product range to include direct to garment (or DTG) printers, with the aim of offering machines at varying price points to match consumer demands.

As reported by Image Magazine, Ricoh plans to introduce their newest direct to garment printer, the long-awaited Ri 1000, at PrintEx19 in Sydney, which kicks off on the 13th of August. It is set to join the Ri 100 and Ri 6000 in Ricoh’s rapidly expanding portfolio of DTG solutions.

Replacing the Ri 3000, the Ri 1000 has been created in response to the growing demand for easy to use, efficient and affordable garment decoration solutions. Faster than its predecessor, it delivers greater print quality with an enhanced resolution of 1200dpi x 1200dpi. It supports CMYK plus white ink, ensuring dazzling results on fabric of any colour. The printer’s application flexibility is supported by a new pre-treatment (suitable for 100% light polyester and polycotton blends), which opens greater opportunities for garments and textile products in a number of sectors, such as sports.

The ability to smoothly switch between multiple styles of platen (up to 406.4mm x 508mm) makes quick operation and production versatility a breeze. The addition of a magnetic mechanism allows for platens to be easily snapped on and off without the need for additional tools. This flexibility supports continuous production and a wide range of print capabilities (from children’s sizes through to super wide designs).

Minimal maintenance with customisable cleaning options allows you to enjoy maximised production uptime. For those maintenance tasks that aren’t automated, the printer’s 7-inch touchscreen display provides smart alerts, notifying operators when to perform manual maintenance tasks.

Although no official launch date has been set, Machines Plus is excited to add the Ri 1000 to our repertoire of direct to garment printers. We feel this is a fantastic entry level option for those looking to print white ink as well as CMYK, enabling decorators to offer both black and white garments. There is no word yet on how much one of these printers will set you back, but be sure to stay tuned - more information is coming soon.
