4. Orders, payments and finance
Machines Plus uses third-party ecommerce, payment and finance services to facilitate transactions.
These providers may collect and process personal information directly from you. Depending on the transaction, this may include payment details, identity information, contact details and information required to assess or process a finance application.
Machines Plus does not ordinarily receive or store complete payment-card details where those details are processed directly by an external payment provider.
Where you choose services such as Afterpay or another payment or finance provider, your information will also be handled in accordance with that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
Where information is required to obtain finance on your behalf, we will only provide relevant information to the finance provider where authorised by you or otherwise permitted by law.

For example, information about equipment you purchase may need to be provided to a manufacturer for registration, installation, technical support or warranty purposes.
Machines Plus does not sell customer databases or personal information as a business activity.
6. Overseas storage and disclosure
Some technology, ecommerce, hosting, cloud, payment, marketing and other service providers used by Machines Plus operate outside Australia or use infrastructure located outside Australia.
As a result, personal information may be stored, processed or disclosed overseas.
Where the Australian Privacy Principles apply to Machines Plus, we will take reasonable steps required by law in relation to overseas disclosures. APP 8 may also make an Australian APP entity accountable for certain conduct of an overseas recipient.
Where practicable and required by law, we will identify the countries in which overseas recipients are likely to be located.
At the date of this Policy, overseas processing or storage may include the United States and Canada, depending on the service providers used.
We may update this information where our service providers or their data-hosting arrangements change.
7. Direct marketing
Machines Plus may, where permitted by law, communicate with customers and subscribers about products, services, promotions, training, events and other matters that may be of interest.
Marketing communications may be made by email, SMS, telephone or other appropriate channels.
Commercial electronic messages sent by Machines Plus will identify the sender and provide a clear method of unsubscribing where required by law.
You may opt out of electronic marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe facility contained in the message or by contacting us.
We will process applicable unsubscribe requests within the period required by law. Under Australia's Spam Act requirements, commercial electronic messages generally require an appropriate unsubscribe mechanism and requests must generally be actioned within five working days.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent Machines Plus from contacting you about an existing order, quotation, account, payment, delivery, installation, service, warranty matter or other necessary business communication.
8. Website information, cookies and analytics
When you use our websites, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:
- your IP address;
- browser and device type;
- operating system;
- referring website;
- pages viewed;

Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies to operate essential website features, maintain shopping carts and sessions, remember preferences, analyse website usage, measure performance and assist with advertising.
We may use third-party analytics, ecommerce and advertising services for these purposes.
These third parties may collect information using cookies or similar technologies and may handle information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
You can usually manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the operation of some website functions.
9. Security
Machines Plus takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
Our safeguards may include physical, technical and organisational security measures appropriate to the nature of the information we hold.
However, no electronic communication, internet service or information-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
This does not limit any rights you may have, or any obligations Machines Plus may have, under applicable law.
Where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies to Machines Plus, we will assess suspected eligible data breaches and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where notification is required by law.
10. Retention of personal information
Machines Plus retains personal information for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected or for related legitimate business purposes.
This may include retaining records necessary for:
- order and transaction history;
- equipment installation and servicing;
- warranty and technical support;
- taxation and accounting;
- dispute resolution;
- fraud prevention; and
- compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Where information is no longer required and we are not legally required to retain it, we will take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.
11. Accessing and correcting your personal information
You may contact Machines Plus to request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, irrelevant or misleading.
Requests may be made to:
Machines Plus Pty Ltd
Email:
info@machinesplus.com.au

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before providing access or making a correction.
There is no charge for making an access request.
Where permitted by law, we may charge reasonable costs associated with actually providing access to information. Any such charge will not be excessive, and we will advise you beforehand where a charge is likely to apply.
Where the Australian Privacy Principles apply, organisations must generally respond to access requests within a reasonable period, which the OAIC says should generally not exceed 30 calendar days.
In some circumstances we may be legally permitted or required to refuse access or correction. Where required by law, we will explain our decision and any available complaint process.
12. Privacy complaints
If you have a concern or complaint about the way Machines Plus has handled your personal information, please contact us:
Machines Plus Pty Ltd
Email:
info@machinesplus.com.au
Phone: 1300 167 587
Please provide sufficient information for us to understand and investigate your concern.
We will acknowledge and investigate privacy complaints within a reasonable period and aim to provide a substantive response within 30 days.
If additional time is reasonably required because of the complexity of the matter, we will advise you.
Where the Privacy Act applies to Machines Plus and you are dissatisfied with our response, you may have the right to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
The OAIC's current guidance recommends that privacy complaints generally be raised with the organisation first and that an organisation ordinarily be given around 30 days to respond.
13. Third-party websites and services
Our websites may contain links to websites, platforms and services operated by third parties.
Machines Plus does not control the privacy or security practices of those third parties and is not responsible for their privacy policies or practices.
A link to another website or service does not necessarily constitute endorsement of that website's privacy practices.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policy and terms of any third-party service before providing personal information to it.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Machines Plus may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our business, technology, service providers or legal obligations.
The current version will be published on our website and will show the date it was last updated.
Where a change materially affects the way we handle personal information, we may take additional steps to bring that change to the attention of affected individuals where appropriate.
